About PGDM in Entrepreneurship (PGDM-E)

The PGDM in Entrepreneurship (PGDM-E) is a two-year, full-time programme offered by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII). Now in its 26th successful batch, the programme is designed specifically for aspiring entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial managers, family business successors, and social innovators.

Delivered across six trimesters over two academic years, PGDM-E provides an academically rigorous, highly practical, and industry-relevant learning experience. The programme encourages critical and lateral thinking, nurtures entrepreneurial ambition, and enables students to conceptualize, build, and scale ventures while studying at EDII.

A distinctive feature of PGDM-E is its milestone-based learning approach, where students develop their enterprise step by step on campus, supported by continuous mentoring and hands-on guidance. The programme also emphasizes family business management, equipping students with the skills required to enhance performance, ensure business continuity, strengthen shareholder loyalty, and maintain healthy family relationships.

Key Features of the PGDM-E Programme

PGDM-E offers three specialized pathways, allowing students to align learning with their entrepreneurial aspirations:

1. New Enterprise Creation (NEC)

This specialization prepares students to identify, initiate, manage, and grow new business ventures.
Students are required to develop a Detailed Project Report (DPR) on their business idea, supported by intensive mentoring and feasibility analysis, enabling them to convert ideas into viable enterprises.

2. Family Business Management (FBM)

Designed for successors and next-generation leaders of family-owned businesses, this specialization focuses on competitive growth and long-term sustainability.
Students develop a Five-Year Perspective Plan (FYPP) for their family firm, guided through structured mentoring and strategic planning frameworks.

3. Social Entrepreneurship (SE)

This specialization provides students with a new orientation toward sustainable development through social innovation.
It equips future leaders to design and lead economic, social, and environmental impact ventures. Students are required to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for their chosen social enterprise under the Course of Independent Studies.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Experiential Learning

Experiential Learning

At EDII, experiential learning is emphasized through Summer Internships, Projects, Business Simulations, Industry Interactions, and Independent Study, enabling students to apply classroom learning in real-world business environments.

Summer Internships

During the first year, students are trained in core functional areas such as Business, Marketing, Finance, Consulting, Economics, OB, HRM, Operations, and IT. This prepares them for professional work culture and industry expectations.

At the end of the first year, students undertake 8–10 weeks of Summer Internship, preferably with SMEs, where they engage in real-time business responsibilities and apply management theories learned in classrooms.

Internship formats include:
  • Organizational Internship
  • Family Business
  • Business Opportunity Assessment & Industry Analysis
  • Approved External Training / Seminar
  • Start-up Ventures
  • International Summer Internship

Projects – DPR / FYPP

Students prepare a Bankable Detailed Project Report (DPR) or Five-Year Prospective Plan (FYPP) based on market research, financial analysis, risk assessment, technology evaluation, and growth strategy.

Projects are evaluated by panels comprising faculty, industry experts, and bankers, followed by a presentation and viva-voce. DPRs/FYPPs may be submitted to leading banks for funding support.

Independent Study & Business Simulation

EDII promotes student-directed learning through independent research projects under faculty mentorship. Business simulations like MikesBikes and Sim Venture are used to enhance strategic thinking, financial analysis, leadership, and teamwork.

Entrepreneur Interactions & Industry Visits

Eminent entrepreneurs, industry leaders, policy makers, and academicians regularly interact with students. Industry visits are organized every trimester to expose students to real operational environments across manufacturing, services, logistics, FMCG, ports, and start-up ecosystems.

Funds for Viable Venture

Project Start-up Facilitation Grant

EDII provides financial assistance to deserving students for initiating viable and impactful ventures. Preference is given to women students and first-generation entrepreneurs.

Applicants are required to submit proposals and present before a designated committee for evaluation.

Debt Support

IDBI Bank considers financing up to ₹1 crore without collateral under CGTMSE for viable projects undertaken by EDII students.

Faculty Initiatives on Teaching & Learning

EDII faculty adopt innovative, participative, and experiential pedagogies including case studies, simulations, workshops, live projects, presentations, and industry interactions.

Examples of Teaching Initiatives:
  • Case-based and simulation-driven learning
  • Live industry projects and field studies
  • Entrepreneurial workshops and seminars
  • Mock pitch days and venture funding simulations
  • Family business and international business exposure
  • Interactive classroom discussions and presentations
